Project Specialist – Freight Forwarding (Air & Ocean Project Cargo)

Location: Houston, TX

Compensation: $65,000 – $85,000 base + bonus + full benefits

Company Overview

We are representing a European-based international freight forwarder with deep expertise in project cargo, oversized freight, and multimodal logistics. The company is expanding its U.S. project operations, with Houston as a key hub for Air and Ocean project cargo. Their client base spans Oil & Gas, Energy, EPCs, and global industrials.

This is a hands-on execution role built for someone who thrives in fast-paced, high-accountability environments and understands the technical demands of coordinating complex cargo.

Position Summary

The Project Specialist will support the end-to-end execution of air and ocean freight for complex cargo moves — from quoting and pricing to booking, documentation, and carrier coordination. This is a critical operations-facing role within the projects division, directly supporting revenue delivery, customer service, and vendor performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate Air and Ocean freight for project cargo (FCL, LCL, OOG, Hazmat, Breakbulk)
• Prepare quotes, cost breakdowns, and routing proposals for client requests
• Manage bookings with carriers, airlines, and subcontractors
• Oversee all export/import documentation and regulatory compliance
• Monitor cargo movement across milestones and proactively resolve issues
• Communicate with shippers, consignees, vendors, and internal stakeholders
• Ensure CargoWise data is complete, accurate, and updated in real time
• Support billing, margin validation, and post-shipment reporting

Candidate Requirements

• 3–5 years in international freight forwarding with project cargo exposure
• Experience handling both Air and Ocean freight, including OOG and specialized equipment
• Knowledge of Incoterms, export documentation, and carrier requirements
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple complex shipments simultaneously
• Proficiency in CargoWise or similar TMS platforms
• IMDG certification or knowledge of hazardous materials preferred
• Located in Houston, TX or able to commute
