Job Description

LHH is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant/Secretary to join our team in New Orleans, LA. This role provides comprehensive administrative support to a team of attorneys handling employment law matters. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized, detail-oriented professional with at least three years of recent legal secretary experience. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to up to three attorneys in employment law matters and offer backup support as needed
  • Prepare and revise correspondence, pleadings, and legal documents with high attention to detail
  • Maintain attorneys’ calendars, schedule appointments, meetings, and depositions
  • Handle a variety of complex and confidential, time-sensitive materials
  • Answer phones and communicate with clients on a daily basis
  • Act as a liaison between internal departments and external agencies
  • Conduct conflict checks and open new client engagements as needed
  • Book and organize travel arrangements, including flights, hotels, and transportation, and manage changes as required
  • Maintain docketing for litigation attorneys and track case deadlines
  • Transcribe electronic dictation and proofread documents for accuracy
  • Assist with office and client filing, ensuring proper organization and compliance
  • Assist in trial preparation and preparation of briefs and legal documents
  • Familiarity with law firm billing software and state and federal court filing procedures

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of recent legal secretarial experience
  • Typing speed of 65+ wpm with accuracy
  • Proficiency with technical legal terminology and court filings
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal rules and procedures
  • Experience in trial preparation and document drafting, including generating Tables of Authorities
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong proofreading capabilities
  • Punctual with excellent attendance
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a small, cooperative office environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (2021), including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with billing software is a plus

Educational Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Four-year college degree preferred
