Job Title: Field Technician – Heavy Equipment, Diesel, and Cranes

Location: Lincoln, Nebraska

Job Type: Full-Time

Field Technician Job Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel-related issues on heavy equipment and cranes.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections on cranes (mobile, truck-mounted, knuckle boom, etc.) and various types of construction equipment.
  • Troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulic systems, control systems, and drive train components.
  • Conduct field repairs and installations with minimal supervision and in diverse jobsite conditions.
  • Maintain service logs, complete work orders, and generate detailed reports on diagnostics and repairs.
  • Diagnose and maintain equipment for various manufacturers (e.g., CAT, Cummins, Palfinger, Manitowoc).
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company safety procedures and policies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized service truck, tools, and inventory.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and clients.

Field Technician Job Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience servicing heavy equipment, diesel engines, and crane systems.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Technical or vocational training preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and crane operation/repair.
  • Valid CDL (preferred) or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
  • Certification in crane repair is a plus.
  • Ability to read schematics, service manuals, and technical drawings.
  • Comfortable using laptop-based diagnostic software and hand-held diagnostic tools.
