Job Overview

Bee Sweet Citrus, Inc. is seeking an organized, energetic, and supremely reliable individual to join our Food Safety Team. This position reports to the Director of Farming Operations and is responsible for the overall implementation and daily tasks of the Farm Food Safety Program, as well as developing, implementing, and enforcing food safety standard, and programs.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Implement of all aspects of farming food safety and sampling programs under the guidance of Director of Food Safety and/or the Director of Farming Operations
  • Assist the Food Safety department in developing Food Safety, regulatory initiatives to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations as well as compliance with specific customer requirements
  • Responsible for assisting Director Farming Operations with implementation and overseeing a comprehensive food safety program for growing, harvesting, packing and transportation of fresh produce from farm to facility
  • Assist with implementation and overseeing comprehensive analytical sampling program of the soil, water and other Agricultural inputs used to grow fresh produce for internal use
  • Responsible for field implementation of a comprehensive sanitation validation program for harvest equipment following regulatory and customer requirements
  • Oversee and assist Field compliance supervisor in the routine field inspections for pre-season, pre-harvest, and harvest crews
  • Verify and ensure that growers, harvesters, and labor contractors maintain compliance with all applicable Food Safety and regulatory requirements
  • Responsible for maintaining full compliance with current audit schemes – PrimusGFS and/or implementations of Global GAP audit scheme
  • Responsible for reviewing, updating, and helping maintain FSM programs documentation.
  • Ensure that all documentation is complete, accurate and properly recorded
  • Conduct field food safety investigations, recommend, and coordinate implementation of corrective actions
  • Oversee training of personnel to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards
  • Responsible for scheduling and conducting field food safety audits and maintaining a positive relationship with the certification body.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Food Science, Environmental Health or related field
  • 2-3 years of progressive food safety experience
  • OSHA30 certified

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable regulations 
  • Creativity, innovation and the ability to solve problems and generate viable solutions
  • Must be approachable and effective with ability to influence change across all levels of the organization
  • Must have good time management skills and be able prioritize duties
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, but also sensitive situations where information must be shared on an ‘need to know’ basis
  • Bilingual preferred

Pay Offered/Benefits

  • $70,000 - $80,000 annual salary
